Rob Bravesmith

Rob Bravesmith is Head Coach of our U12 age group. He is an experienced coach, having coached ESM Ladies 2s and 3s, as well as being on the coaching team for ESMHC youth camps. He has over 10 years experience coaching a range of sports to different age groups and works as a PE teacher in a local Primary school. Rob played hockey at youth and adult level for Southgate Hockey Club in England before moving to Edinburgh. He has been at ESM Hockey Club since 2017 and is the current Men’s 2s captain, having taken on the role since 2018. Part of the job is helping talented young players transition to playing adult hockey and preparing them to go on and play at a higher level.

Ross Ogg

Ross is the U16 Boys Head Coach. He played his youth hockey in Perth before moving to study in Edinburgh. He joined ESM in 2019 from Inverleith HC. Ross holds an HNC in Sports Coaching & Development and has a wealth of coaching experience, gained coaching at various clubs and levels, including a stint coaching the U21 Ghana ladies team! Ross is looking forward to working with our U16 Boys and supporting their transition to our adult teams.

Noah Jones

Noah is the SMC Hockey Gap for 20/21. Noah attended Pinelands High School in South Africa, where he played 167 games for the first team, scoring 71 goals. He won Gold  with the Western Province U18A team last season at the SA National tournament. He played for Pinelands HC’s Men’s 1st XI for 2 years. Noah is excited to be be joining ESM as a player and youth coach.

Richard Wright

Rich started playing hockey aged 10 and played with Quasar Hockey Club for 10 years. He captained the club’s U14, U15, U16 and U18 teams. He started playing men’s hockey at 14, helping to get the Men’s 1st team promoted to National League 2. Rich represented North/Highland district at U14, U15, U16, U18 and U21 levels. He captained Highland district to its only tournament win. He was also selected to represent Scotland at U16, U18 and U21 levels. At the age of 16, Rich gained his Level 1 Coaching and has since been involved in both youth and adult coaching for both outfielders and goalkeepers. He been at ESM since 2014 and has coached the Youth, Women’s and Men’s teams.

Jamie Hogarth

Jamie Hogarth, a Stewart’s Melville FP, returns to ESM  as our youth section Co-ordinator after graduating from the University of St. Andrews. While at St Andrews, Jamie represented Scottish Universities and played in the Men’s 1st XI, captaining the team in his final two years.  Jamie coached with ESM in S6 and has also coached regularly at our summer camps over the years, whilst coaching the juniors in St. Andrews over the past 4 years. Jamie is excited to be taking over as Youth Co-ordinator and building on all the fantastic work that Ally Dodge and team have done over the past decade!

Jessica (Jet) Orr

Jet returns to our youth coaching team to welcome the P3s, previously having coaching the U16 girls. Jet started playing hockey at school aged 13 and played for Western Wildcat youth and senior section.  Following a brief spell playing for Coleraine HC in Northern Ireland, Jet joined ESM in 2017 and currently plays in the Ladies 1s team. Hockey has always been about the enjoyment and sense of team spirit for Jet and she is looking forward to bringing as much fun as possible to the P3’s training.

Jika Nyirenda

Jika joins our youth coaching team for season 2020/21. She is currently studying Medicine at Edinburgh University, where she plays for their Women’s 1st XI. She previously gained experience playing for Premier League side Beeston Hockey Club. Jika has had the opportunity to play youth hockey in both Scotland and England. Her highlights include travelling to Germany to play for England U16s and representing Scotland U21s at the Euros  in 2019, where the team won Gold and secured promotion to the European A division.

Dave Forrester

Dave is a senior Scotland international goalkeeper with over 40 caps. He represented Scotland at various international tournaments including World League rounds 1 and 2, World Cup Qualifiers, European Championship II and the Europe Championships. His notable successes include winning the European Championship II in Glasgow in 2017 and finishing 3rd at World League Round II (which qualified Scotland for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018).

David Guy

David is our U16 Girls Head Coach and Youth Club Development Officer.  As a youngster, he played for East at every age group. At 13 he first represented Scotland in the U16 European Championships – he went on to play at U18 and U21 too. David coached the East U15 Boys to three consecutive titles and the U16s to two titles. He also coached U18 Boys and assisted the U18 Girls to three indoor titles. He has also coached teams at various schools and clubs. David is a fitness coach with his own business, The Fit Guy, specialising in fitness and lifestyle coaching for young athletes. He also runs hockey/fitness camps for senior school players. As well as coaching, David plays for the club.
