Led by ESM Hockey Club, the Ferry Road Project is an exciting community initiative which introduces primary school pupils to field hockey. Over a four-week block, our youth coaching team work collaboratively with Active Schools Edinburgh and ESMS Sports Leaders to deliver sessions to Primary 6 and 7 pupils in schools along Ferry Road in Edinburgh. The sessions are designed as an introduction to hockey — developing core sport-specific skills such as dribbling, passing, and tackling — while also encouraging important social skills including communication, teamwork, and confidence.
As a follow-up to the in-school blocks, every participating child will be invited to attend our free Fundamentals session, held every Wednesday from 18:00–19:00. These sessions provide a fun and welcoming environment to continue developing skills, confidence, and a lifelong love for hockey.
