Steve joined ESM as L1 coach in 2015, after a long and successful playing and coaching career in England, including spells at Southgate HC, Maidenhead HC, West Herts HC and Old Georgians, coaching both youth and adult teams. In addition he held various coaching roles within the England hockey set up and Performance Pathway, latterly the Futures Cup event. Since returning to Scotland he has also coached with St Andrews University and East District Youth teams. With Steve the L1s achieved promotion to National 1 and have been involved in various play offs. Steve is also very supportive of our youth players transitioning to Ladies’ hockey. He still turns out for the Club’s Men’s teams as and when his coaching allows!
David is one of our men’s squad coaches. As a youngster, he played for East at every age group. At 13 he first represented Scotland in the U16 European Championships – he went on to play at U18 and U21 too. David coached the East U15 Boys to three consecutive titles and the U16s to two titles. He also coached U18 Boys and assisted the U18 Girls to three indoor titles. He has also coached teams at various schools and clubs. David is a fitness coach with his own business, The Fit Guy, specialising in fitness and lifestyle coaching for young athletes. He also runs hockey/fitness camps for senior school players. As well as coaching the team, David plays for the club.
Andrew is one of our men’s squad coaches. He has been coaching for over twelve years at various levels. He is currently the Head of Hockey at Stewart’s Melville College and the head coach for the Scotland U18 boys. During his time in Scotland, Andrew has also coached in National League 1 with Grange Hockey Club. He has been involved in both junior and senior international set ups. His home club is Bowdon, however he played the vast majority of his career for Cannock, winning a number of national titles and competing in two European Cup finals.
Stuart joined ESM as the Women’s 2s and 3s Coach this season. He has played in the National League, at Regional & District level and represented England at junior level. Since moving to Scotland has has primarily been assisting young players progress to National League and District level. He has also coached Seniors in the East District League, developing a team that achieved two successive promotions, a close challenge for National League Championship qualification and to win the region’s Sports Council ‘Team of The Year Award’, picking up a ‘Coach of the Year Award’ as well. Stuart is strong supporter of the Scottish Hockey Coaching Programme and of youth hockey generally; he can also regularly be found umpiring schools matches.
