ESM Ladies finish 4th in indoor national league division 2

Now that all of the results are in, a fourth place finish is confirmed for ESM ladies in only their second season of playing indoor hockey.

The ladies team entered the national league for the first time last year and finished a creditable second in division 3. Following the withdrawal of three teams across divisions 2 and 3 and one team joining the league, the SHU combined the leagues to give one of 12 teams, each team playing each other once.

The team targeted a top 6 finish and, despite being an almost completely new team, worked hard to achieve this goal. The squad was strengthened with the addition of new players Anna Cameron, Tutu Osifodunrin, Amy Atkinson and Lyndsay Gowans, all of whom performed well, and of the old guard Heather Clark once again finished top goal scorer. Also, a special mention for Keri Preece and Susie Waudby, playing indoor hockey for the first time and contributing greatly.

The team managed a record of six wins, two draws and only three defeats, to finish in fourth position and comfortably meet their preseason target.

Well done to all involved
